Sovereign AI agent platform

Lascaris

The sovereign decision fabric.

The foundation your agents run on. A Kafka-native decision fabric where autonomous agents sense live data, decide against the policy you set, and act, with every decision on the record. It runs inside your own network, on-premise, air-gapped, or in your sovereign cloud. Your data and your reasoning never leave. Zero lock-in, ready for any mission.

  • Every decision written to an immutable audit log, built for the AI Act, DORA, and NIS2.
  • Runs on-premise or air-gapped. Reasoning never leaves your network.
  • Apache-2.0 open core, engine included, wire-compatible with Confluent and Redpanda.
The sovereign decision fabric.

Your operations need agents that act. Not another copilot.

Lascaris turns your data, your models, and your agents into auditable autonomous operations for defense, energy, and space.
In plain terms

What is Lascaris?

What it is
A sovereign AI agent operating system. The Kafka-native foundation your agents run on: one decision fabric where they sense live data, decide against your policy, and act inside your own network.
Who it is for
Defense, energy, space, finance, health, and other regulated operators that run autonomous agents on live data and have to keep control of the outcome. Not for lightweight chatbot or SaaS copilot use cases.
The problem it solves
Agents that only answer are not enough. Lascaris lets agents sense live data, decide against the policy you set, and act, with every decision written to an audit log.
What it connects to
Your existing Confluent, Redpanda, or Apache Kafka, your own open models, and S3 for storage. The Kafka engine is included if you have no cluster to start from.
Why it is different
Reasoning and data never leave your network. Runs on-premise or air-gapped. One supported distribution under one contract, not five open-source projects you assemble and patch yourself.

The system

Sense, decide, act. Three stages. One boundary.

Lascaris is a sovereign AI agent operating platform for mission-critical operations. It gives enterprises a Kafka-native decision fabric where autonomous agents can read live operational data, reason over shared memory, apply policy, and execute auditable actions inside the customer’s own network. Lascaris is designed for defense, energy, space, industrial, and regulated environments where data, prompts, reasoning, and decisions must remain under sovereign control.

Boundary · your network
01

Sense

Agents read live data, telemetry, and events from your Kafka spine.

02

Decide

They reason over shared memory and apply the policy you set.

03

Act

They take action, and every decision is written to the audit log.

On the record

How it runs

Install it. The engine is included.

Lascaris ships with the Kafka-native engine, so there is nothing to stand up first. It also installs onto the Kafka you already run.

Engine included

Nothing to assemble

The Kafka-native engine ships inside. Stand up the whole platform as one install, with no cluster to build first.

Runs on your cluster

Sits on the Kafka you have

Already run Confluent, Redpanda, or Apache Kafka? Lascaris installs straight onto it and uses it as the spine.

Inside the distribution

The whole stack, assembled and verified.

Every component is shipped together, version-locked, and tested as one. The same parts are open source if you prefer to run them yourself.

kafScale · Engine

S3-native Kafka

Kafka-protocol engine, wire-compatible with Confluent and Redpanda.

kaf-mirror · Sync

Live replication

Keeps clusters and sites in step, for resilience and reach across locations.

kafGraph · Memory

Shared memory

A live, distributed memory graph every agent reads from and writes to.

kafClaw · Runtime

The agent runtime

Coordinates the agents, enforces policy, and records every decision.

Operations

One platform, ready for any mission.

The same sovereign decision fabric supporting your mission. Click through and watch it run.

Examples of what teams build on Lascaris, not modules that ship with it. The platform is the foundation; the mission logic is yours.

Reactive defense

Run sensor-fusion, intelligence, and logistics agents inside an air-gapped enclave. Every decision is recorded for after-action review, and nothing leaves the network.

Grid and utilities

Coordinate forecasting and load-balancing agents on live grid telemetry, without exposing the OT network. Every automated action stays auditable for the regulator.

Orbital operations

Triage satellite telemetry, flag anomalies, and stage maneuver decisions across the ground segment. The full chain of reasoning is kept on the record.

Open core, supported

The same parts, engineered and supported together.

The components are open source and free to run yourself. Lascaris is the distribution: the same parts, integrated, tested, hardened, and maintained as one. The model is a Linux distribution, applied to the agent stack.

The name

Lascaris

Beneath Valletta, carved into the rock, are the Lascaris War Rooms. From that bunker the air defense of one of the most heavily bombed places of the Second World War was commanded, and the liberation of southern Europe was planned.

Grand Master Lascaris, who led the Order in the 1600s, also built the prototype for the watchtowers that ring the coast, each in sight of the next, relaying a single warning around the island, tower to tower, back to command. A sovereign command center and a trusted signal network. That is what this platform is.

Deployment

Yours to run, anywhere you need it.

On-premise

Run it in your own data center on your own hardware.

Air-gapped

No outbound connection required. The reasoning stays inside.

Sovereign

European jurisdiction, your data and your control throughout.

Who builds it

Built by people who have run high-stakes systems.

Sovereign operations rest on trust. Lascaris is built by people who have run systems where every decision had to be accounted for.

Military service

The team are veterans of the German armed forces, served in the Air Force and in ground forces. The experience, accountability and chain of command that sovereign operations require are built in.

Enterprise leadership

The team has held senior and executive roles at E.ON, Allianz, Cloudera, Scout24, and McKinsey, building and running systems in energy, finance, and data at national scale.

Open foundations

Scalytics was founded by the original inventors of Apache Wayang, now an Apache top-level project. A company a co-founder previously built, Ecolytiq, was acquired.

Design Partner Field Notes

Early operator feedback.

Honest assessments from the architects and operators using Lascaris in sovereign environments.

Defense Design Partner

We have been a design partner testing Lascaris as a command system for drone and intelligence operations. Compared to Palantir Gotham it is still missing some of the heavier legacy features. That part is real. But the core ontology modeling, real time telemetry fusion, and analyst workspace already feel solid and highly usable.

What stands out is how responsive the team is. They actually listen and move fast to fix things. Implementation and support have been much smoother than what we experienced with bigger vendors. Running it fully sovereign in our own environment is a big plus.

The platform is evolving fast, and they are clearly determined to build something better for users who want absolute control.

Systems Engineer

Design partner comment on Lascaris from Scalytics.

It lacks some of the legacy modules compared to Gotham, but the basics work flawlessly (ontology, provenance, analyst views). The team is fast and helpful which is refreshing. We set it up completely in our own environment without issues. A much more agile foundation. We use it as command control for intelligence operations in addition to legacy systems. The autonomous agents are the absolute winner here.

Datacenter Operations Partner

As a design partner running renewable energy datacenters, we evaluate platforms on operational reality. Lascaris deliberately skips the legacy bloat. The way it approaches autonomous load balancing and grid coordination is different from older platforms, and honestly feels more thought-through.

Having said that, the foundation is strong and the team is genuinely motivated to close any operational gaps. Their support during implementation was excellent and they stay engaged.

Being able to run the whole stack air gapped and sovereign without the usual vendor dependencies makes it a massive operational advantage.

Operational Architect

We joined as a design partner to test Lascaris in a real operational setting. It does not carry the heavy feature bloat of Palantir, but I think that is exactly the point, since they have a decentralized approach.

On the positive side the platform already delivers excellent fusion capabilities at the edge, and the Scalytics team has been exceptional with implementation and ongoing support. They are hungry to improve it and it shows.

The ability to keep everything sovereign and deployed exactly where we need it is a real advantage for us.

Questions

Common questions.

Do I need an existing Kafka cluster to run Lascaris?

No. The Kafka engine is included, so Lascaris runs as a complete platform on its own. If you already run Confluent, Redpanda, or Apache Kafka, the components extend that cluster instead.

How is Lascaris different from the open-source components?

Same components, shipped as one. Lascaris is version-locked, compatibility-tested, security-hardened, and supported under SLA with long-term maintenance. The open-source parts are Apache-2.0 and self-supported.

Can it run on-premise or air-gapped?

Yes. Lascaris runs fully in your own environment, including air-gapped, and the reasoning never leaves your network.

Is it compatible with Confluent and Redpanda?

Yes. The engine is wire-compatible, so you can extend an existing cluster or run the one included with the platform.

What does support include?

Verified releases, security hardening, defined SLAs, backports, and long-term maintenance, under one contract for the whole platform.

Which AI models can it run?

Your own. Open models run where your data lives, so the reasoning stays inside your network.

Is Lascaris open source?

The core components are Apache-2.0. Lascaris is the supported commercial distribution that integrates and maintains them together.
